I praise our Kids for their new chapter hiking to this beautiful mountain, Mount Sibayak (2212 m/7257 ft).
Daddy just got a plan to bring these kids hiking to the Sibayak a night before 76th Indonesian Independence Day. And amazingly, they start screaming showing their excitement because they had already asking this for so long. They start looking some Sibayak’s video on YouTube, Daddy start to contacting a friend to find some rangers who can accompanied us to hikes up.
Early Saturday after morning prayers, we went to mount Sibayak via Sibolangit route. Distance from Medan to Sibayak in Karo regency approximately 50 km and it needs 2(two) hours driving and kids could take a sleep for a moment before we’re arrived. But The plan is not running that easy when we got stuck in a traffic jam at Sibolangit area because of a broke down Truck.
After three hours stuck on the Jam, we’re finally arrived at the Mount Sibayak Area at 10.30 am we meat our ranger Rafi and Fikri, then start the adventure to the first shelter of the Sibayak’s trecking route. In order not to reduce the energy of the children on the heavy route, we asked Rafi and Fikri for help to take them by motorbike to the first shelter then taking some “late brunch” at the shelter before continuing to walk. the route from the parking lot to the first stop consists of a broken asphalt road with a slope of up to 50 degrees, thats why we ask the kids to use Rangers motorbike.
After take a rest for a moment, we went to continue the journey to the path wich a little slippery and wet after got rained the night before, passing through thickets of pandanus trees. After going through a thicket of pandan trees, we will go through limestone roads before finally reaching a stretch of gravel towards the Sibayak Crater. We through this route for an hour before finish at the crater and build a tent to take a rest an changing the wet clothes.
Kids is always a kids, playing anywhere and anytime they want. Find their nature playground when they start playing on a clear water puddle, the ranger said it was come from sulfur vapor that meets cold air then turns into water, but they don’t even care of it and continuing to play.
After taking some lunch on the site, We decided to go down immediately because dark clouds were starting to form above the sibayak. After 45 minutes walking downhills, we arrived at the first shelter and escorted alternately to the car park.
The kids ask to take some meals at Jabu restaurant on our way back to Medan, but before we’re arrived at the restaurant they just fall asleep. Mommy ask daddy continue back to to Medan and find some dinner in Medan.
